Gonyaulax spp


Description

Gonyaulax is an armoured cell covered in thecal plates. It has two distinct grooves in which when alive the flagella lies. The cingulum runs around the cell body, with the sulcus running down vertically from the cingulum down the hypotheca.
Some species are toxic.
Resting spores are seen on CPR samples.
