Sister Surveys
In the development of plans for monitoring Large Marine
Ecosystems and extensive oceanic areas in GOOS, the CPR approach is
recognised as a practical and cost effective way to obtain synoptic
plankton data.
Sister surveys exist on the eastern seaboard of the USA at the
Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC), Narragansett, at the
Australian Antarctic Division, Tasmania in partnership with the
Japanese National Institute of Polar Research (NIPR), Tokyo, and in
the Baltic - based at the Finnish Institute of Marine Research
(FIMR).
