Sister Surveys

In the development of plans for monitoring Large Marine Ecosystems and extensive oceanic areas in GOOS, the CPR approach is recognised as a practical and cost effective way to obtain synoptic plankton data.

Sister surveys exist on the eastern seaboard of the USA at the Northeast Fisheries Science Center (NEFSC), Narragansett, at the Australian Antarctic Division, Tasmania in partnership with the Japanese National Institute of Polar Research (NIPR), Tokyo, and in the Baltic - based at the Finnish Institute of Marine Research (FIMR).
