Temperature Data

Data last updated 10/7/2008 Temperature data have been collected using Vemco Minilogs on CPR routes since 1996. The routes are displayed on the map below. The tables below contain the temperature data for all months that have been processed, however, there are some sampling gaps where a lack of sensors has stopped data from being collected. Each temperature measurement is assigned with a geographic position Click here for an explanation of how positions are assigned. To access the temperature data, click on the route name required (e.g. IB) on the map and then select which year and month is required from the table. Please acknowledge SAHFOS as the source of the temperature dataset in all presentations and publications arising from its use. Please also provide SAHFOS with an original copy of any publications utilising CPR temperature data. As of January 2008 the V & LR route data files now include salinity measurements. The data are available as 'comma separated' Excel spreadsheets - see the example below. Column A shows the date (day, month, year) and time (GMT), columns B and C show longitude (north is positive) and latitude (east is positive, west is negative), and column D is the temperature in °Celsius.
